  1. Tech companies pressured the Nasdaq, with chipmakers Intel Corp (INTC:$19.82,00$-0.83,00-4.02%) and Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD:$6.83,00$-0.5900,-7.95%) falling on analysts' downgrades, while Novell Inc (NOVL:$5.82,00$-0.19,00-3.16%) dropped a day after cutting its third-quarter revenue outlook. 
  2. If China were to slow back down to something less than 8 percent, you'd see a sharp decline in copper prices and all kinds of industrial commodity prices.
  3. Photovoltaic solar company SunPower Corp (SPWRA:$12.93,00$-0.55,00-4.08%) posted better-than-expected quarterly earnings and said its profit margins would rise in the second half of the year as it trimmed manufacturing costs.

  4. Star Bulk Carriers Corp. (SBLK:$2.85,00$-0.02,00-0.70%) swung to a second-quarter profit--breaking a year-long streak of losses--as the dry-bulk shipping company lowered vessel operating costs and reported a less-than-feared decline in revenue. They also declared a dividend of .05cents.

(EVEP:$35.44,00$-0.87,00-2.40%) today announced that it has commenced an underwritten public offering of 3.0 million of its common units representing limited partner interests. The Partnership also intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 450,000 additional common units to cover over-allotments, if any.

(DIS:$35.29, up.13c, up.37%.) said its fiscal third-quarter profit rose 40% on improved results at ESPN and strong box-office proceeds from "Toy Story 3," "Iron Man 2" and "Alice In Wonderland," easily surpassing most estimates. The entertainment conglomerate said it earned $1.33 billion, or 67 cents a share, compared with a profit of $954 million, or 51 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Sales rose 16% to $10 billion.
