"European sovereign credit issues, bailouts, Hungary politicians, German short-selling rules, Chinese tightening, oil drilling moratoriums, the political abyss that is Japan.
In all likelihood, tensions in the Middle East will calm, the euro-zone crisis will be averted, North Korea and South Korea will not go to war, and BP will manage to seal the Gulf Coast oil spill, said Kevin Giddis, a managing director at Morgan Keegan & Co.

The statement came after NYSE Euronext (NYX:$27.40,00$-1.04,00-3.66%) reported that it continues to await approval from regulators before it can proceed with its planned phase-in of circuit breakers for specific stocks, which had been slated to start Monday.
After the May 6 market plunge, U.S. stock exchanges agreed with regulators to start a six-month pilot program to pause trading in any stock in the Standard & Poor's 500-share index if the stock falls more than 10% within a five-minute period.
The program had been scheduled to start June 14 and end Dec. 10.
