  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 275 points, or 2.8%, Wednesday, nudging us back above 10,000. Would that wages made similar gains in a single day. Instead, they're inching the other way: Average weekly pay in the U.S. in 2009 was lower than in 2000, for both college graduates and high-school graduates.
  • Freddie Mac NYSE Delisting to Become Effective - Down 6% in After-Hours. 
  • U.S. small-capitalization stocks surged Wednesday, snapping a six-day losing streak and posting their third-largest gain this year, as investors emboldened by hopes for global growth snapped up riskier assets.

  1. State Street Corp. (STT:$36.63,00$3.29,009.87%) helped lead the market higher. Positive data on credit-card delinquencies and a rise in home-loan applications -- although mainly refinancings -- also cheered investors eager for good news.
  2. US Airways Group, Inc. (LCC:$9.32,00$1.24,0015.35%) , traffic in june increased from 2.8 to 2.9%.
  3. Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (APC:$41.59,00$2.95,007.63%) shares moved up 7.6%, leading the broader oil and gas sector rally and shadowing higher crude prices.
  4. Lawson Software, Inc. (LWSN:$7.61,00$0.34,004.68%) announced that they will report Q4, 2010 results on Jul-08-2010.
  5. Mentor Graphics Corp (MENT:$8.80,00$0.51,006.15%). Activist investor Carl Icahn has been gradually boosting his stake in chip-design software maker Mentor Graphics.
  6. Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (CLF:$48.43,00$3.94,008.86%) shares climbed 8.7% after Deutsche Bank reinstated a buy rating for the global energy company, citing its depressed market valuation and saying the completed INR Energy acquisition "should put to rest M&A overhang that has weighted on shares over the past few quarters."
  7. Gannett Co. (GCI:$14.16,00$1.03,007.84%) shares gained 7.7% after Zacks Investment Research said the largest U.S. newspaper publisher is benefiting from improving advertising trends.
  8. Helmerich & Payne Inc. (HP:$39.77,00$2.78,007.52%) shares were up 7.5% after the contract-drilling company announced that it entered into multiyear contracts to build and operate seven more FlexRigs.
  9. FTI Consulting (FCN:$32.14,00$-11.13,00-25.72%) shares plunged 25% after the company updated its outlook, estimating second-quarter net income at 50 cents to 55 cents a share compared with 69 cents in the year-earlier period. The West Palm Beach, Fla.-based business adviser said quarterly revenue should come in at $350 million. On average, analysts surveyed by FactSet Research were looking for a profit of 74 cents a share on revenue of $362.3 million. FTI's stock was downgraded to market perform from outperform at William Blair and to perform from outperform at Oppenheimer.
  10. FMC Technologies (FTI:$60.16,00$3.56,006.29%) signed an agreement with Gazprom Dobycha Shelf LLC for the manufacture and supply of subsea production equipment to support the Kirinskoye field. The award has a value of approximately $190 million in revenue to FMC Technologies
  11. Ford Motor Co. (F:$10.59,00$0.43,004.23%) , for example, has sought to lead the way in such technology, and is equipping cars with MyFord, an intricate system that allows drivers to bring up information on computer screens using voice commands.
  12. Solera Holdings Inc. (SLH:$36.95,00$0.67,001.85%) named Renato Giger chief financial officer and said it will move its corporate headquarters and executive team to Dallas-Fort Worth from San Diego.
  13. DragonWave (DRWI:$5.61,00$0.24,004.47%) tumbled lower in after-hours trade after missing Q1 revenue expectations and setting guidance below the Street view.
  14. AK Steel (AKS:$12.55,00$1.03,008.94%) is up even after German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp denied it is considering buying a stake in the U.S. company, Reuters reports.
  15. Affymetrix (AFFX:$4.04,00$-1.51,00-27.21%) shares dropped 27% to $4.05 after the producer of technology to analyze genetic data cut its second-quarter revenue outlook. It now estimates revenue at $71 million to $72 million, compared with its previous estimate of $80 million to $82 million.
  16. Family Dollar Stores (FDO:$36.26,00$-3.18,00-8.06%) shares shed 8.1% after the retailer announced fiscal third-quarter profit rose 19% to $104.4 million, or 77 cents a share. Sales rose 8.4% to $2 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected earnings of 76 cents a share. For the year, the company expects earnings to range from $2.53 to $2.58 a share. Analysts had forecast $2.59.
  17. (AAPL:$258.668, up 10%...). Analysts still see more room to grow for Apple's stock.  $370 a share from $355. $349 a share from $342. Barclays Says Tablets Poised For Rapid Growth. 
    • I personally am  going to buy some 3-6 month calls on AAPL with a strike price closer to 300 depending on how long I choose to hold the contract for.

    • This was a crazy play today, made some real nice money off the bounces though, longed it after about noon and you were good for 40cents.  Looking to capitalize on it tomorrow.
