  • Nasdaq-100 After-Hours Indicator Up 0.23 at 1,821.74   
  • Stocks end little changed Monday after a four-session skid; the S&P and the Nasdaq snap that streak with barely positive finishes, while the DJIA ends just in the red. Oil futures closed at a five-week low and benchmark 10-year Treasury yields hit 2.59%, a March 2009 low.
  • U.S. prosecutors on Monday recommended a six-month prison term for Robert Moffat, a former IBM executive who pleaded guilty in the Galleon hedge fund insider trading probe.
  • In late July, Citigroup (C:...) agreed to pay $75 million to settle SEC's complaints that it failed to disclose $40 billion in subprime exposure. Last month, the SEC sued Citigroup (C:...) , alleging the bank understated its exposure to subprime assets in 2007 by nearly $40 billion. The SEC alleges the bank misled investors during conference calls when it stated its subprime exposure was $13 billion when it was really over $50 billion.
    • A Judge refused to sign off on this deal, stating that there wasn't enough information to sign off on the deal.
  1. Billionaire activist investor Carl Icahn on Monday said he has added energy companies NRG Energy Inc (NRG:$21.8601,$-0.0999,-0.45%) and Anadarko Petroleum Corp (APC:$51.99,00$-0.3800,-0.73%) to his portfolio, and sold off most of his remaining shares of video retailer Blockbuster Inc.

  5. Berkshire Hathaway increased its stake in drug company Johnson & Johnson (JNJ:$58.0100,$-0.1400,-0.24%) during Q2, according to a regulatory filing late Monday. Berkshire held 41.3 million shares of JNJ at the end of June. That compares to holdings of 23.9 million shares of the drug company at the end of March, according to a filing earlier in May of this year.

    • "The combined resources of the two companies will provide a seamless, one-stop shop for oil and gas customers at their project sites throughout the Gulf Coast region," said Gary Bernardez, president of Ameco.

  10. Hallmark Financial Services (HALL:$9.48,00$0.19,002.05%) reports Q2 net earnings of $0.29 versus Street view of $0.22. Revenues of $75.7 million for the second quarter were higher than the Street's estimate of $75.09 million.
