  1. OmniVision Technologies Inc (OVTI:$18.22,00$0.22,001.22%) , which makes semiconductor image sensor devices, swung to a fourth-quarter profit as revenue jumped 76 percent, and forecast first-quarter revenue ahead of Wall Street expectations, sending its shares up 10 percent after the bell.
    • 18 to 19.98 after hours trading range.
    • Long, Taking profits will cause this stock to decline early, so you can short early, then wait for dip and long it back towards HOD around $20.
  2. Guess Inc.'s (GES:$38.17,00$2.54,007.13%) fiscal first-quarter earnings rose 55% as the apparel manufacturer benefited from strength in Asia, where sales increased 50%.
    •  37.53 to 32.96
    • Short, This stock has declined over the past few weeks, but this is pretty good news, I'd expect and uptrend, which is a bit against the grain, if not, short away!
  3. Blue Coat Systems Inc (BCSI:$28.84,00$1.31,004.76%), Internet-monitoring equipment maker, posted a quarterly profit in-line with analysts' estimates hurt by higher operating expenses, and forecast first-quarter results below Street view, sending shares down more than 17 percent.
    •  26.99 to 23.61
    •  Short, early short, all day short, could get some strength if it touches 23 area.
  4. Magma Design Automation (LAVA:$3.07,00$0.11,003.72%) reports Q4 EPS of $0.06, two cents better than the Street view. Revs were $33.6 mln, just ahead of expectations of $33 mln.
    •  Long & Short, play on this one, possible profit taking on upward trend of last week, but continuance is imminent, this will be interesting tomorrow.
  5. Shares of Massey Energy (MEE:$33.06,00$1.60,005.09%) were up in after-hours trading after the company announced plans for the company MSHA and West Virginia Office of Miners Health Safety and Training are planning to reenter the Upper Big Branch mine.
    •  Long, been waiting for some positive news on the tragedy, here it is, benefit from it and long some shares.
  6. SeaChange International (SEAC:$7.82,00$0.29,003.85%) reports Q1 non-GAAP EPS of $0.10, two cents ahead of the analyst mean on Thomson Reuters. Revenue was $54.1 mln, matching the Street view.
    •  Undecided, probably flat, 10 day chart shows down trend.
  7. Novell (NOVL:$5.90,00$0.09,001.55%) reports Q2 revs of $204 mln, just shy of the Street view of $205 mln. Non-GAAP EPS was $0.07 per share, matching the Street view.

    • Long, not based off of earnings but strong support levels at 5.75 and major talks of buyout plans.
  8. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico after a Transocean (RIG:$59.71,00$1.13,001.93%) owned rig sank last month has led to a moratorium on new offshore drilling permits, which, if extended, could be a costly hit for offshore drillers.
    • Transocean (RIG:$59.71,00$1.13,001.93%) , Noble Corp (NE:$30.07,00$-0.81,00-2.62%) , Hercules Offshore (HERO:$3.26,00$0.22,007.24%) , Rowan Cos (RDC:$26.17,00$1.50,006.08%) , Ensco PLC and Diamond Offshore (DO:...) all have a significant presence in the GoM, and have seen their stock prices tumble over 15 percent since the BP spill began.
    •  On Thursday, a White House aide said U.S. President Barack Obama will likely announce a six-month extension on the moratorium on new deepwater drilling permits later in the day.

        • Analysts feel the sell-off is overdone and there is room for the shares to recoup some of their losses.

        • Meanwhile, a trade group representing rig companies that drill in the GoM has asked the government to lift its moratorium on new drilling permits in shallower waters, a move that could help companies including Seahawk Drilling Inc (HAWK:$12.22,00$-0.08,00-0.65%) , Hercules Offshore (HERO:$3.26,00$0.22,007.24%) , and Rowan Cos (RDC:$26.17,00$1.50,006.08%).
    • Depending on news and how this plays out there are some good plays here, if the moratorium goes one way or another place ur bets. 
    • Moratorium is a suspension of an ongoing or planned activity, An authorized period of delay in the performance of an obligation.
    •  Lithium-ion battery maker EnerDel said parent Ener1 (HEV:$3.20,00$0.22,007.38%) signed an agreement for a joint venture with Chinese auto parts maker Wanxiang's electric vehicle unit, as it looks for access to the world's fastest growing electric vehicle market.
      • Short, fluff piece this stock will pop, but the short will make more money tomorrow.
    • Activist investor Carl Icahn reported a 6.86 percent stake in chip-design software maker Mentor Graphics Corp (MENT:$9.05,00$0.47,005.48%) and said he intends to discuss ways to maximize shareholder value with the management
      • Short, this stock is poised for a comedown, it popped after hours off of talks with Icahn, haha.
    • Earlier this week, Icahn Capital LP filed a notice with the Securities and Exchange Commission that various Icahn funds have purchased 13.5 million shares, or an 8.54% stake in Lawson Software Inc. (LWSN:$8.24,00$0.28,003.52%) , saying the shares are undervalued.
      • Long, very long, like this news and like that Icahn is backing it!
    • Shares of apparel retailer Guess Inc (GES:$38.17,00$2.54,007.13%) fell 7 percent in after-hours trade on Thursday as investors worried about its dependence on Europe, where a debt crisis has dragged down the euro.
      •  Short of course, clothes aren't necessity and Europe is having troubles, but don't count them out, they aren't Ricky Hatton!
    • Aerospace and defense parts supplier Esterline Technologies (ESL:$51.35,00$2.29,004.67%) reported better-than-expected quarterly results, mainly helped by growth in its avionics and controls segment, and raised its 2010 earnings outlook, sending shares up 5 percent.
      • Mixed feelings. 
    •  Zale Corp. (ZLC:$2.6300,$0.1100,4.37%) , which Wednesday reported its fiscal third-quarter loss narrowed on a tax gain and slightly better margins.
      • Long, alot of people are short on them, but I see a comeback. I say it runs tomorrow.
    • Amid a broader market rally, Standard Pacific (SPF:$4.99,00$0.30,006.40%) , which had been leading the sector all morning, was recently up 5.8% at $4.92 after rallying as much as 9.5% at one point after the data was released.
      •  Long, momentum keep lifting this one.
    • SandRidge Energy Inc. (SD:$6.41,00$0.30,004.91%) and Arena Resources Inc. (ARD:$32.50,00$1.62,005.25%) said they settled six stockholder lawsuits against their proposed $1.6 billion merger, with three more suits in suspension.
      •  Long, 3 more suits in suspension, if they work out so does stock. Flat tomorrow.
    • Quanex Building Products Corp. (NX:$18.35,00$0.75,004.26%) swung to the black in the fiscal second quarter as the building-products maker's sales soared and margins jumped from last year's battered levels, beating expectations.
      •  Long, and this seems like a helluva deal here check the chart.
    • Nuts and snacks seller Diamond Foods Inc's (DMND:$39.40,00$0.29,000.74%) adjusted quarterly profit beat Wall Street estimates, helped by strong growth at its snack segment and one month of Kettle Foods ownership, and raised its 2011 earnings outlook.
      •  Long / Short, technical analysis using multiply timeframes here.
    • Williams-Sonoma Inc. (WSM:$30.01,00$1.46,005.11%) announced a $60 million stock buyback plan and raised its quarterly dividend 15%, bringing its total dividend increase for the year to 25%.

      • Long &, not alot of strength with this news, but strong mkt day will produce strength in this. 10 day chart is choppy, I predict trading will be as well.
    • Guess and J Crew Group Inc (JCG:$43.86,00$1.73,004.11%) on Thursday posted first-quarter earnings that topped Wall Street's view as shoppers splurged on full-price clothing and jewelry.
      •  43 to 45.02
      • Short, I don't like this news and don't think its time for splurging on high priced clothes, stock may get a lift, but I'm short this company this quarter. Scalp a long maybe.
