  • Wall St falls on economy woes, volume lowest.
  • U.S. consumer spending rose at the strongest pace in four months in July while a smaller rise in incomes was less than forecast. The expectation that data this week will confirm the economy shed jobs in August also kept investors at bay.
  • President Barack Obama on Monday said his economic team is working to identify new measures to stimulate U.S. growth as part of a " full-scale attack" to strengthen the lackluster economy.
  • Almost half of all hedge fund managers are bearish about the U.S. stock market, up from 33 percent a month earlier.
  1.  Silicon Graphics International (SGI:$5.96,00$-0.16,00-2.61%) said the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California dismissed class-action lawsuit that was filed against the company on January 16, 2009.
    • SGI shares are up 1.55%, or $0.09, to $6.05 in after-hours trading.

  2. Winn-Dixie Stores (WINN:$8.02,00$0.05,000.63%) declined in after-hours trade after reporting better-than-expected Q4 earnings results.
    • moving downside range 8.59 to 7.84
    • revenue missed Revenue of $1.74 billion was lower than Street expectations of $1.77 billion.
    • The limited reversal pattern in place in WINN, combined with some tentative late-evening upside support tonight, may open the door for more risk tolerant longs to test the waters tomorrow near 7.90 to 8.00, levels that could see some early day interest as the stock perhaps catches a firmer bounce above 8.
  3. Donaldson Co.'s (DCI:$42.8800,$-0.4800,-1.11%) fiscal fourth-quarter profit surged on higher worldwide sales and continued progress in improving margins, helping the industrial-filter maker's results top expectations.
    • this stock moved down 43.24 to 42 on good results, possible reversal long play, I really think the market weakness is having an adverse effect on good reports. 
    • Beats on Q4 where profit doubled, Guides about in Line with Expectations.
  4. Hewlett-Packard (HPQ:$38.5600,$0.5600,1.47%) agreed to pay the U.S. government $55 million as part of a settlement of claims alleging the company defrauded the General Services Administration. 
    • This news maybe good because I think they were in for a larger fine, but I'm short biased.
    • 38.99 to 38.46, not a large range, I'd stay away from it.
  5. VHC, ZIXI, DGIT all have nice plays in them today, possibly watches tomorrow.
  6. SCOLR Pharma (DDD:$0.3566,$-0.058400,-14.07%) announced that it has signed an agreement with The Emerson Group to provide sales support for the company's new line of extended-release nutritional and over-the-counter drug products.
    • got 20% gain after hours, but it did have a 15% drop today, so its up 5.
  7. California Pizza Kitchen (CPKI:$15.03,00$-0.24,00-1.57%) announced the opening of its first restaurant in India.
    • This good news may not be enough to work against the grain of the overall mkt, look for mkt strength combined with this good news to carry it into the upper 15's.
  8. ATMI Inc. (ATMI:$12.46,00$-0.04,00-0.32%) said its board has authorized a share-repurchase program for up to $50 million.
    • I love share repurchases almost as I love stock offerings.
